A look back to our country estate wedding in Errol, Scotland

Not so long ago I was planning my own wedding! My wonderful husband Mo and I were married on the 23rd of August 2014 at Errol Park in Perthshire, not far from where we live.

I wanted to start this blog to showcase some real weddings in the hope of inspiring newly engaged couples and future brides. It is also a great way to show my stationery in context. So let me begin by talking you through my own wedding and sharing some of my inspiration, advice, tips and tricks for planning the big day.

We were one of the first couples to have our wedding at Errol Park in Scotland. When we booked to have our wedding there it wasn’t even finished so we really had to use our imagination. What we loved about the venue was that it allowed us to combine everything we wanted for the day. The stately home and gardens were the perfect backdrop for our ceremony and added class and elegance to the day and especially to the photographs. We were also really inspired by rustic barn weddings and so the converted stable at Errol Park was the ideal place for our reception with its stone floors and fire pits.

I knew I wanted something quite simple when it came to my wedding dress. Something lightweight that would fall from my waist to the floor. When I entered Lamesly Bridal in Edinburgh and saw this Charlie Brear dress it really felt like it was the one for me. I loved that I was able to add the sleeves and plain belt for that extra touch. On the day it was so comfortable to wear and also felt very luxurious to walk around in. Mo loved it too which is obviously a big plus!

I knew I wanted my bridesmaids to wear white and was so pleased when the dresses we bought for them ended up matching really well with the material of my dress. We added the navy belts to give a little colour and tie in with Mo and the groomsmen who wore navy suits.

Mo’s suit came from TM Lewin and he wore it with brown skinny brogues. Along with his groomsmen he also wore a custom orange striped bow tie with his initials stitched on.

My flower crown was done by our florist Acanthus and wearing it was the fulfilment of a childhood dream. At night I wore my hair down and swapped the flowers for a custom designed headband by Laura Beaumont Couture who also made my garter.

I chose to wear a perfume I had never worn before so that it would forever remind me of my wedding and honeymoon.

Our photographers are called The Hendrys.  We cannot speak highly enough of our photographers, four of our friends subsequently booked with them upon our recommendation. Their style and creativity on the day made it so much fun working with them. We didn’t have a single worry about the photography and were over the moon with the photos when we looked through them on our honeymoon.

Overall we had such an amazing day. We were overwhelmed to be surrounded by so many loved ones and thankfully we were both so relaxed we were able to enjoy every moment of it.

So you see, I was recently in your shoes and I know the stress and pressure that can be involved in planning a wedding. That is why I am so passionate about creating the best possible stationery for your big day and also ensuring that every step of your journey with me is easy and enjoyable so you have one less thing to worry about.
