This course is perfect for anyone who wants to spend time practicing and increasing their calligraphy skills and for those interested in the elegant formal script of Copperplate. It is intended for those who have been to a previous calligraphy class or has a beginning level of pointed pen practice. If you have come along to one of my beginners classes, then this is perfect next step for you.
This course is focused on teaching Copperplate Calligraphy. We will begin with a refresh of the basics of calligraphy and quickly progress to introducing copperplate calligraphy, it's core techniques, movements and letter forms. If you prefer modern calligraphy, I believe that even though this is focused on a formal style, it will benefit your greatly. It is important to learn the fundamentals before progressing on to experimenting with your own style. I will give you ample one to one instruction on this course and tips for improving and taking your own calligraphy to the next level. Topics include core techniques, copperplate strokes and the lower and uppercase alphabet. The course includes the provision of four very detailed workbooks, and lots of my favourite tools, papers, nibs, inks and paper pads for you to try and take home with you.
As the course is split over four evenings (with spare weeks between classes), you will be given specific drills to practice in between sessions so that you can see your own calligraphy improve after each week. You will be amazed at the progress you will make!
Tea, coffee and drinks will be provided each evening and there will be the opportunity to treat yourself to the delicious cakes and nibbles that Kitschnbake has to offer. They are very irresistible! Please note that the new kit will not include a new penholder, so please bring the penholder from your beginners class with you. I will have spare available for purchase at the class if you need one.
